Takoradi: Group Captain Kwabena Krampah Antwi on Friday, August 7, assumed office as the new Commander of the Takoradi Air Force Base. He succeeded Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, who also served as the Two Garrison Commander, during a handing/taking-over parade held at the Base's Administrative Block.
According to Ghana News Agency, Air Commodore Yirenkyi expressed gratitude to the military high command for their trust and support during his tenure. He acknowledged their timely interventions and confidence, which played a crucial role in overcoming challenges and seizing opportunities. He also thanked the Western Regional Security Council, traditional authorities, and other stakeholders for their cooperation in maintaining peace and security.
During his tenure, Air Commodore Yirenkyi enhanced the Base's operational readiness and safety standards, improved infrastructure and welfare for personnel and their families, and strengthened civil-military relations to foster community trust. He emphasized that these achievements were the result of collective effort, mutual trust, and shared sacrifice.
The outgone Base Commander congratulated his successor, Group Captain Antwi, and assured him of the Base's support. Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson praised Air Commodore Yirenkyi for his professionalism and contributions to regional security. He also congratulated the new Base Commander and assured him of stakeholders' cooperation to maintain peace and stability.
