London: Media personality Yaa Yeboah and Head of Communications at Burniton Music Group, Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, have criticized media personality Mona Gucci for 'defending' the stampede that occurred during ShattaFest UK in London.
According to Ghana Web, the controversy unfolded after Mona Gucci made remarks celebrating Shatta Wale over the crowd rush at the event. Speaking on 'Vida Unfiltered Studios,' aired on YouTube on August 3, 2026, Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng described these remarks as 'utter nonsense,' expressing her disdain by stating, 'It is stupidity at its highest degree.'
Yaa Yeboah also voiced her disagreement with Mona Gucci's argument. Mona Gucci had suggested that because people fainted at concerts by the late pop icon Michael Jackson, Shatta Wale should not be blamed for the crowd rush at his concert. Yeboah questioned whether Mona Gucci was proud of a concert headlined by Shatta Wale that led to a stampede, resulting in several injuries. 'This is a malnourished analysis. So you are proud about the fact that your artiste is the first African artiste to trigger a stampede?' Yeboah questioned.
Both Yeboah and Boateng argued that incidents at Michael Jackson's concerts cannot be compared to the events at ShattaFest UK. They noted that it has never been reported that there was a fatal stampede at a Michael Jackson show, emphasizing that people who collapsed at his concerts did so due to overexcitement, dehydration, and the intense crowd atmosphere, not suffocation. They pointed out, 'Nobody went to a Michael Jackson show where people were frying yam and a gas explosion occurred. Neither was there only one entrance for attendees to struggle to access the event grounds. Why are you even comparing this to Michael Jackson in the first place? Are you okay? What is there to compare?'
