Accra: Hamid Kanyiti Salifu, a close associate of Ghana's Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). The achievement was celebrated during the institute's 56th graduation ceremony, where Salifu joined the PhD Class of 2026 after years of academic research, dedication, and perseverance. In a message shared after the ceremony, Salifu expressed gratitude to family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers for their support and congratulatory messages, saying, 'I want to thank everybody for the wonderful congratulatory messages. I am very grateful.'
According to Ghana Web, beyond the academic milestone, Salifu highlighted a memorable moment from the graduation ceremony, which he described as a powerful lesson in humility and the unpredictability of life. One of the most significant photographs from the event featured Prof Ing Felix Kofi Abagale, whom Salifu knew during their days at Ghana Secondary School. Salifu recalled that Prof Abagale was a junior student at the time and was often assigned errands by senior students. 'This picture among all the pictures speaks so loudly and most of us should be guided by it and be humble,' he stated.
He recounted that during their school days, the professor would often run errands for them, but years later, fate had reversed their positions. At the graduation ceremony, Prof Abagale served as Chairman of the occasion and Acting Chairman of the Governing Council of GIMPA, playing a key role in constituting the assembly that formally conferred Salifu's doctoral degree. 'This is a boy who collected food for me, washed for me and we sent him around. As usual fought his battles as our Jnr in Ghana Secondary School. Today at my graduation ceremony, he was the Chairman of the occasion and also the acting Chairman of the governing council of the institute and he had to constitute the assembly for me to graduate.'
