Kumasi: The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has officially inaugurated Professor Christian Agyare as the 13th Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). During the ceremony, he emphasized the importance of solutions that inspire confidence. He urged Prof. Agyare to focus on policies, decisions, investments, and reforms that enhance teaching, learning, research, innovation, and service to society.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Asantehene highlighted that leadership involves transforming challenges into opportunities. He advised the new Vice-Chancellor to prioritize consultations over commands, acknowledging the diverse opinions within the university community. The Asantehene stressed the importance of managing differences of opinion through established structures, ensuring fairness, respect, and openness to strengthen the institution.
He called upon the university council, staff, and stakeholders to support Prof. Agyare, emphasizing that leadership flourishes with trust, goodwill, and shared commitment. He urged collective efforts to maintain KNUST's growth in excellence, relevance, and global influence. Otumfuo Osei Tutu also paid tribute to the former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson, acknowledging her significant contributions to the university's growth.
Prof. Christian Agyare, a distinguished academic and researcher, brings over twenty-five years of experience in pharmaceutical sciences, higher education management, and global scientific engagement. He has successfully secured over US$11 million in research grants and institutional support from prestigious international organizations such as the German Research Council (DFG), German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and the World Bank.
