Accra: Renowned international evangelist Rev Dr Lawrence Tetteh has offered words of encouragement to President John Dramani Mahama, urging him to use his time in office to build lasting friendships rather than create enemies. Speaking at the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Asomdwee Park to mark the 14th anniversary of the late president Professor John Evans Atta Mills on July 24, 2026, he encouraged the president to remain focused, embrace forgiveness, and uphold the power of prayer.
According to Ghana Web, Dr Tetteh advised President Mahama to use his position to make friends, emphasizing that some people who made enemies during their tenure found themselves isolated afterward. He highlighted the enduring legacy of John Evans Atta Mills, noting that his friendships are still celebrated today. Dr Tetteh warned against comparing one's journey to others, stressing the uniqueness of individual paths and timings.
Dr Tetteh also praised President Mahama for introducing the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, acknowledging the significance of prayer in governance. He expressed pride in this initiative, urging that it remains a spiritual endeavor, free from partisan influence. Dr Tetteh emphasized that the National Thanksgiving Service should not be politicized but should stay true to its spiritual roots.
