Why Gyakie Pulled Out of KNUST SRC Week

Accra: Ghanaian songstress Jackline Acheampong, better known as Gyakie, has withdrawn from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) SRC Week celebrations. Gyakie, who was scheduled to perform at the Hall Week event on Saturday, July 25, 2026, announced her decision via a post on X, stating she would not be performing.

According to Ghana Web, Gyakie did not specify the exact reason for her withdrawal but hinted at dissatisfaction with the organizers' handling of the situation. Her statement expressed a hope that the KNUST SRC leadership would recognize the value of her work and address the issue appropriately.

Following Gyakie's announcement, social media buzzed with speculation suggesting that the singer's decision was prompted by the SRC's alleged failure to meet her payment expectations. Claims circulating online allege that the KNUST SRC leadership expected Gyakie to perform without offering her any payment.
