Accra: Alhaji Mohammed Moctari, the newly appointed Wangara Chief in the Bono Region, has called on the people of Wangara descent to strive for peaceful co-existence with others, regardless of cultural and traditional differences.
According to Ghana News Agency (GNA), Alhaji Moctari emphasized that peace and social cohesion are essential for facilitating accelerated development. He noted that culture and tradition are integral to the identity of a people and should not serve as a point of division within society.
In an interview with GNA in Sunyani, Alhaji Moctari, a 61-year-old businessman, expressed that with tolerance and mutual respect, individuals from varied ethnic backgrounds could live in harmony. He highlighted that both Ghana and other countries have made progress with evolving civilizations, urging Wangaras and people from different tribes to respect each other's cultural and traditional practices.
Alhaji Moctari stressed that building a better society and advancing progressive development is a shared responsibility requiring an inclusive approach. He called on Ghanaians to avoid letting tribal differences create barriers between them, as such divisions could hinder the development process.
Additionally, Alhaji Moctari addressed issues of youth moral decadence, evident in disrespect for authority, acts of lawlessness, and indecent dressing. He highlighted the need for various tribes and ethnic groups in the country to reintroduce some ancient traditional and cultural practices that promote discipline and shape the minds of the people. However, he cautioned that these traditions should not hinder the holistic growth and development of the youth.
