Accra: The National Cadet Corps Ghana on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, hosted its National Cadet Drill and Band Competition at the Ghana National Fire Service Training School in James Town, Accra. Despite heavy rainfall, participants exhibited discipline and resilience throughout the event.
According to Ghana Web, the competition brought together cadet corps from various senior high schools across the country, focusing on drill and band performances designed to foster leadership, discipline, and teamwork among students. General Emmanuel Kwaw Erskine, the main sponsor and reviewing officer, commended the cadets for their determination and commitment. He emphasized that true leadership is tested in challenging circumstances and praised the students for their admirable performances despite the adverse weather conditions.
In the drill competition, the Police Cadet Corps of St Thomas Aquinas Senior High School claimed the title of national champions. St Rose's Senior High School Air Force Cadet Corps from Akwatia earned the first runner-up position, while Obiri Yeboah Senior High School Immigration Cadet Corps took the second runner-up spot.
The band competition saw Bishop Herman Senior High School Air Force Cadet Corps from the Southern Sector crowned as national champions, delivering an impressive performance that entertained the audience despite the persistent rain. Organisers described the event as a celebration of discipline, patriotism, and leadership development among young people, underscoring the critical role of cadet training in shaping future leaders for the country.
