Energy Commission Calls on Electricians in Ghana to Secure Licenses for Safety Compliance

Cape coast: Mr Stephen Yomoh, the Assistant Manager in charge of Electrical Wiring at the Energy Commission in Ghana, has urged all electricians nationwide to secure the necessary licenses and permits prior to undertaking electrical installation projects.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Yomoh emphasized that licensing would bolster professionalism within the industry, ensuring that electrical tasks are executed in line with approved standards and safety regulations. During his working visit to the Oti Region, specifically the Nkwanta South Municipality, he underscored the significance of obtaining permits from the Commission to local electricians.

He elaborated that adequately trained and licensed electricians are better prepared to conduct quality wiring installations, which significantly reduces the risk of electrical faults, fires, and property damage. He pointed out that a considerable number of fire incidents were attributed to substandard electrical wiring and the employment of unqualified personnel for electrical installations.

Mr Yomoh encouraged electricians in the region to regularize their practices by acquiring the requisite certification and licenses from the Energy Commission. He stressed that adherence to professional standards would not only safeguard lives and property but also boost public confidence in the electrical services sector.
