Breman asikuma: The Breman Asikuma Traditional Council has launched its 2026 edition of the Odwira Festival with focus on empowering the youth, promoting education, and accelerating sustainable socio-economic development. The celebration of the 2026 Bremanman Festival would also promote the culture and traditional values within the Breman Traditional Area.
According to Ghana News Agency, the festival is under the theme: 'Building a Legacy through Youth and Heritage', and it will feature activities including homecoming, Adae Kesse Feast, health talk and walk, free health screening, youth entrepreneurship clinics, and educational competitions. Other activities include the purification of the Black Stool, a debate on the history of the area, and traditional durbars.
Odeefo Amoakwa Buadu VIII, the Paramount Chief of the Breman Traditional Area who is also President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, launched the festival. The launching brought together prominent political leaders, civil society groups, Assembly Members, corporate institutions, District Assembly staff, and residents.
The event was chaired by Alhaji Alhassan Kobina Ghansah, the Member of Parliament for the area. Odeefo Buadu VIII stated that the youth, as future leaders of the Breman State, needed to be empowered with the requisite skills and knowledge, traditional values and norms, and given the necessary support to contribute meaningfully towards the total development of the area and the nation.
Odeefo Buadu VIII emphasized that the festival was an opportunity for families to reunite, make new friends, boost trading and business, and bring together citizens to contribute to making Bremanman a better place. He called on the sons and daughters of the area to fully participate in all activities lined up and honor their festive obligation.
He stated that giving to society was a collective responsibility. Odeefo Buadu urged all Breman citizens to combine spirit, mind, soul, strength, and rich expertise to raise the flag of Bremanman higher.
Alhaji Ghansah encouraged the youth to avail themselves of opportunities by the government to unearth their potentials and talents to be self-sufficient. He assured his continued support to the traditional council in their developmental initiatives.
Later, a logo for the festival was unveiled. Nana Barima Fi III, the Kyidomhene of the traditional area who is also the festival planning committee chairman, highlighted the need for all sons and daughters of the area to return home and contribute to making the festival unique and memorable.
