Tano south: Mr Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, the Tano South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has announced that the Municipal Security Committee (MISEC) is intensifying efforts to tackle cocoa smuggling in the region. He issued a stern warning to individuals involved in smuggling activities, advising them to cease such practices or face legal consequences.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Frimpong made these remarks during the inauguration of the Quality Control Office of the Ghana Cocoa Board in Bechem, located in the Ahafo Region. He emphasized that the establishment of the office is a strategic move to enhance the cocoa industry within the municipality and encouraged cocoa farmers to take full advantage of the new facility.
Nana Addai Asubonteng, the Ankobeahene of the Bechem Traditional Area, praised the government for setting up the office. He expressed optimism that the initiative would boost cocoa production, ensure high-quality beans, and improve the livelihoods of local cocoa farmers.
