Accra: Veteran Ghanaian musician Amanzeba Nat Brew has spoken warmly about his personal interactions with dancehall superstar Stonebwoy, describing the younger artiste as a ‘wonderful musician.’
According to Ghana Web, Amanzeba revealed during an interview with Channel One TV that he has engaged directly with Stonebwoy on musical matters. He emphasized that their relationship is built on mutual respect between two generations of Ghanaian music. Amanzeba expressed admiration for Stonebwoy’s work, saying, “I’ve interacted with him personally on some of the stuff that needs to be done because he’s such a wonderful musician.”
The veteran musician also shared insights into his approach to working with younger artistes. He noted that hands-on experience is more effective than formal instruction when it comes to nurturing talent. “Quite a number of artistes that I’m working with are so young, and it is better to make people experience it than to stand there and say you are lecturing them. We work together, we play the music together,” he explained.
Amanzeba added that the young musicians around him have shown an openness to all genres, including his own style of music. This collaborative and experiential approach has allowed for a richer exchange of musical ideas and practices.
Stonebwoy, who apparently came across the interview, responded on X with a tribute to the legend, stating, “Big Elder and Legend Amanzeba.”
