Banda-ahenkro: The Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to take pride in the government's accomplishments and achievements thus far.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Vice President encouraged members and supporters of the NDC to continue backing the government's initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for the populace. She emphasized the need for party members to draw inspiration from the government's achievements, noting that President John Dramani Mahama's administration is efficiently managing and utilizing the nation's resources.
The Vice President shared her thoughts during a vibrant ceremony at Banda-Ahenkro in the Bono region, commemorating the 47th Anniversary of the June 4 uprising under the theme: 'Strengthening state institutions: lessons from the June 4, 1979 uprising.' She highlighted that the government operates with a relatively small number of ministers, enabling more funds to be allocated to critical development projects.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang pointed out that the government has prioritized road infrastructure development, responding to persistent concerns from communities during the 2024 election campaign. She explained that the focus on roads is a direct result of community requests for better road conditions, acknowledging the hardships faced by people due to inadequate infrastructure.
Investments in roads, markets, healthcare facilities, and other social infrastructure are deemed essential for improving living conditions and fostering economic growth, according to the Vice President. She noted the challenges faced by market women, particularly during rainy seasons, and stressed the importance of constructing standard markets to alleviate their struggles.
Furthermore, the Vice President praised the dedication of state ministers, acknowledging their commitment to serving the nation. She observed that many ministers juggle multiple responsibilities without the assistance of deputy ministers, describing it as a significant sacrifice deserving of encouragement and support.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang highlighted the importance of active participation from Ghanaians in successfully implementing government policies and programs. She expressed gratitude to the NDC and the Ghanaian public for their continued support, urging them to view past challenges as motivation for finding lasting solutions and improving lives.
"The problems of the past remind us why we are in government to solve them and improve the lives of our people," she concluded.
