Accra: Dr Sheikh Amin Bonsu, the National Chairman of the Ghana Muslim Mission, has urged Muslim social media influencers to use their platforms responsibly by promoting moral values, discipline, and the teachings of Islam. He emphasized the significant influence these individuals hold over society, particularly the youth, and called for their behavior, communication, and public appearances to reflect the ethical principles of Islam.
According to Ghana News Agency, Dr Bonsu made the call at the Ghana Muslim Mission Content Creators Summit held in Accra. During his address, he described content creators and influencers as leaders and ambassadors of Islam whose messages and conduct could shape public perceptions and inspire positive change. He encouraged them to remain steadfast in their faith and committed to using digital platforms to positively project the values of Islam.
Dr Bonsu highlighted the importance of practicing good values both online and in daily life. He urged Muslim youth and influencers to work diligently, remain courageous, and use their talents to advance the growth and visibility of the Muslim community in Ghana. The digital space, he noted, offers a powerful avenue for educating, inspiring, and uniting people around positive causes.
He also called for greater commitment to education, capacity building, and community development within the Muslim community. Despite the large Muslim population in the country, Dr Bonsu lamented their underrepresentation in leadership and national development spaces, attributing part of the challenge to inadequate educational infrastructure. He urged Muslims to invest more in schools, mentorship, and skills development.
Dr Bonsu advised participants to recognize their potential, emphasizing that consistency, sacrifice, and determination were essential to success. He urged content creators to avoid divisions and negative content that could tarnish the image of Islam, promoting instead peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among people of different faiths.
He also touched on personal well-being, advising participants to strike a balance between work and rest to maintain health. He concluded by praying for Allah's blessings upon all Ghanaians, asking God to grant success and goodness to all in both this world and the hereafter.
The summit brought together Muslim content creators, influencers, and youth leaders to discuss the role of digital media in promoting Islamic values, community development, and responsible online engagement.
