Tema: The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has received approximately 1,000,000 barrels of Bonga Crude Oil aboard the MT Cap Felix, marking a significant step in its ongoing refinery revitalization and crude processing efforts.
According to Ghana Web, the crude cargo was procured from Shell and delivered via TOR's tolling partner, Fujeirah/Triangle Commodities Trading (TCT). This arrangement aims to support the refinery's operational recovery and ensure a consistent supply of petroleum products to the Ghanaian market.
The delivery of Bonga Crude is seen as a milestone in restoring stable refining operations, bolstering national energy security, and decreasing Ghana's reliance on imported refined petroleum products. Bonga Crude is expected to yield substantial volumes of products such as LPG, gasoline, diesel, kerosene, ATK, and fuel oil for both domestic and regional markets.
Management of TOR expressed gratitude to the government, regulatory bodies, financial partners, and other stakeholders for their ongoing support in the refinery's recovery process. The refinery emphasized the importance of this delivery in its statement, highlighting its role in improving national energy security and reducing dependency on imported products.
TOR also reiterated its commitment to transparency, operational excellence, environmental responsibility, and transforming the refinery into a competitive energy hub for Ghana and West Africa. As operations continue, TOR plans to maintain active engagement with stakeholders and the public.
