Drobo: The Ghana Police Service has initiated an investigation following an incident of unlawful property damage at the Drobo Traditional Council's Palace located in the Jaman South Municipality of the Bono Region.
According to Ghana Web, the Bono Regional Police Command issued a press release on May 21, 2026, detailing the events reported by the complainant, Nana Tanor Bediako, the Krontihene of the Drobo Traditional Council. On May 19, 2026, around 9:10 AM, approximately 15 men wearing red bands on their heads reportedly besieged the palace, damaging the main door as they attempted to seize the facility.
Police officers who arrived at the scene discovered the main entrance gate to the palace forecourt had been damaged, with the right section removed and lying on the ground. During their operation, authorities retrieved three pump-action guns loaded with 14 rounds of BB ammunition and one single-barreled gun from individuals associated with the Omanhene's side.
Preliminary investigations suggest the disturbance arose from a chieftaincy dispute. Members of the Bosea family, aligned with the Drobo Queen Mother, claimed they had received information about the Omanhene's plans to install sub-chiefs. Their presence aimed to prevent this installation, but they were met with resistance from the Omanhene's supporters, leading to a clash at the palace forecourt.
The Bosea family further alleged they had obtained an injunction from the Bono Regional House of Chiefs against the Omanhene, who they claim is avoiding service and has gone into hiding. The Bono Regional Police Command has restored order in the area and urged all parties involved to follow due process in resolving the dispute.
Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators for prosecution, with a stern warning issued by the command against any lawbreaking activities. Photos released by the police display the damaged palace gate and several firearms recovered from the scene.
