Keta: Professionals from Anlo Afiadenyigba in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region have inaugurated a team of facilitators, commissioners, and commissions of 'The Action Room,' a community-driven initiative aimed at promoting sustainable development in the area.
According to Ghana News Agency, the inauguration ceremony, held at Keta, was on the theme: 'Mobilising professionals for the sustainable development of Anlo-Afiadenyigba.' The initiative brought together professionals and indigenes from fields such as education, health, agriculture, engineering, tourism, business, and public service to mobilise expertise, resources, and networks for the development of the community.
'The Action Room,' officially launched on April 4, 2026, is being led by a seven-member facilitation team, spearheaded by Prof. Edem Kwasi Bakah. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Bakah emphasized the importance of unity, innovation, and collective responsibility in advancing the town's development agenda. He urged professionals both at home and abroad to contribute to the community's sustainable development, ensuring a lasting legacy beyond personal accomplishments.
Fifteen commissions were inaugurated to oversee various development sectors, including education, health, infrastructure, tourism, sanitation, agriculture, youth empowerment, economic development, security and conflict resolution, and resource mobilisation. Mr Chris Foli, an agri-business consultant and Commissioner for Resource Mobilisation, highlighted the initiative's reliance on collective support from all indigenes and stakeholders and appealed for cooperation in securing lands for development projects.
Apostle Togbi Kadzahlo Drabese IV, Dufia of Anlo Afiadenyigba, expressed appreciation to the project initiators and announced the traditional leadership's full endorsement. He emphasized the importance of unity in ensuring collective growth and urged facilitators and commissioners to carry out their duties with dedication and courage.
The inauguration formally empowers the various commissions to work towards unlocking Anlo Afiadenyigba's development potential for present and future generations. Anlo Afiadenyigba, a coastal community in the Keta Municipality, is noted for its rich cultural heritage and communal spirit. The local economy is largely driven by fishing, farming, salt mining, and kente weaving, which remains a traditional occupation in the area.
