Bogoso: Mr. Patrick Appiah Mensah, the Managing Director of Heath Goldfields, has announced the company's plan to invest $20 million in socio-economic development over the next five years in the divisional catchment areas of the Bogoso-Prestea Mine. Each year, $1 million will be allocated to each division, focusing on healthcare, education, infrastructure, and enterprise development projects. According to Ghana News Agency, these projects will be overseen by both community leaders and the company's experts to ensure the funds are utilized effectively. Mr. Mensah emphasized the initiative's significance by stating that they are shifting from previous practices to committing substantial annual investments. This effort is seen as a complement to government initiatives aimed at fulfilling the developmental needs of the communities. Mr. Mensah highlighted the sustainability efforts of the Mine, noting its revival from a state of collapse to its current gold-producing status within a year. He expressed confidence in Heath Goldfields' capacity to sustain and develop the Mine through strategic investments. Addressing skepticism about local capacity in mining, he acknowledged the challenge but remained committed to proving detractors wrong by operating ethically and effectively.
