Bono: The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) will conduct a joint military exercise in the Bono and Upper East Regions from May 10 to May 20 to strengthen operational readiness.
According to Ghana News Agency, a press release from the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp, stated that the exercise is aimed at enhancing rapid-response capabilities against contemporary security threats.
The statement, signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin of the Ghana Navy, Acting Director General of Public Relations, indicated that the exercise, codenamed 'Exercise Storm Shield 2026', will involve the Ghana Army, Ghana Navy, and Ghana Air Force. It is described as an Internal Security and Counter-Insurgency Field Training Exercise designed to improve troop preparedness to respond effectively to emerging security challenges.
The statement also noted that residents in the Bono and Upper East Regions might observe increased military activity during the period and advised the public not to panic but to continue their normal activities. The GAF reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the territorial integrity, peace, and security of the country.
