Sunyani: Mr Awudu Razack, the Chairman of the Nwawasu Unit Committee in the Sunyani Municipality, has expressed concern about growing incidents of snake bites in the area. He highlighted the challenges faced by the predominantly farming community, which has over 5,000 residents, in accessing medical care. The community members often have to travel by bicycle or walk long distances to the Atronie Health Center whenever there is an emergency.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Razack made an appeal for a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in Nwawasu. He emphasized that the establishment of a CHPS compound would not only benefit the people of Nwawasu but also serve nearby communities like Asamoakrom, Akenkensu, Kuffuor Camp, Ankamakrom, and Tuobodom.
Mr Razack expressed concern over the increasing frequency of snake bites, citing a recent incident where a victim died while being transported to the Atronie Health Centre. He also mentioned a personal account, noting that his uncle was bitten by a snake two months ago and is currently receiving treatment at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital.
