Accra: Former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has made a rare public appearance since her removal from office on September 1, 2025, showing a joyful demeanor at a church event. The event, reported to be the Thanksgiving service for Lady Bishop Naana Addae-Mensah of Gospel Light International Church, was attended by Justice Torkornoo and her husband, Francis Torkornoo, a former Director-General of the Narcotic Control Board (NACOB).
According to Ghana Web, Justice Torkornoo, dressed in all-white clothing, was seen in a video exchanging pleasantries with other attendees while giggling. Following the greeting session, she joined the attendees, including Lady Bishop Naana Addae-Mensah, in dancing. The song "I know that Jesus is my saviour" seemed to have a significant impact on her, as she appeared more joyful than the people around her.
The video captured Justice Torkornoo making impressive leg and hand movements, fully engaging with the music and lyrics. Her public appearance and joyful dance have caught the attention of many, marking a notable moment since her departure from the judiciary.
