Accra: Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on the current government to fulfill its job creation promises to the Ghanaian youth. Speaking at a Seventh Day Adventist Church event, Bawumia emphasized the need for the government to deliver on the three shifts promised during the 2024 election campaign, which were aimed at creating a 24-hour economy to provide employment opportunities.
According to Ghana Web, Bawumia highlighted the expectations of the youth for job opportunities, referencing the campaign pledge of a 133 economy model to facilitate employment. He expressed the ongoing anticipation among the youth for these promises to be realized, underscoring the importance of job creation in addressing youth unemployment.
In addition to job creation, Bawumia addressed the current power crisis affecting the country. He conveyed the sentiments of the Ghanaian people, stating that the government owes them solutions to the recurring power outages, commonly known as "dumsor." Bawumia urged the government to take responsibility and address the power supply issues plaguing the nation.
Furthermore, Dr. Bawumia called on the government to pay attention to the needs of cocoa farmers, urging timely payments and addressing the broader challenges faced by farmers in the country. His remarks underscored the necessity for the government to prioritize the agricultural sector and support farmers to ensure sustained economic growth.
