Revenue Mobilisation Efforts Intensified by Hohoe Municipal Leadership

Hohoe: Mr. Prosper Kumi, the Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has reiterated the call for residents of the municipality to prioritise and commit to the payment of property rates and business operating permits. Highlighting the importance of these contributions, he noted that they form a crucial part of funding for social services and community repair works. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Kumi emphasized the significance of residents' engagement in the revenue mobilisation drive, highlighting that many have already shown a positive response to discussions around payment rates. He shared these insights during a Town Hall meeting in Hohoe, aimed at promoting accountability and supporting the inclusion of sub-structures and traditional authorities in local governance. The MCE further outlined progress in educational infrastructure, stating that all Senior High Schools in the municipality had received sufficient furniture for teachers and students. Additionally, the Assembly, along with the GETFund, p lans to supply furniture to basic schools to ensure fully furnished classroom blocks upon commissioning. Mr. Kumi also announced that the Assembly would benefit from the government's One Million Coders project, receiving 50 laptops to train participants in income-generating skills. The initiative aims to enhance digital literacy and economic opportunities within the community. Addressing agricultural development, he revealed plans to establish a buying centre in collaboration with the Ghana Buffer Stock Company, enhancing market accessibility for local rice and maize farmers. This initiative reflects the Assembly's commitment to supporting local agriculture. Further development plans include a beautification project across the municipality, focusing on pedestrian walkways and tree planting exercises. Mr. Kumi urged residents to actively engage in sanitation efforts and called on traditional and religious authorities to support these initiatives, thereby enhancing community involvement and environmental qua lity.
