Kumasi: The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the murder of an Indian national, Devendra Singh, in Kumasi. Singh's body was discovered in the boot of his car at Konkoli, near Sabin Akrofuom, after he had been reported missing.
According to Ghana Web, the police were alerted when Singh's vehicle was found on April 25, 2026, at around 2:00 pm, parked by the roadside near Royal Lemosey Hospital. Upon inspection, officers discovered Singh's lifeless body in the boot with multiple stab wounds. The suspect is currently in custody and assisting police with investigations.
The police statement dated April 26, 2026, confirmed the arrest and noted that the suspect is aiding in the ongoing investigation. Singh's body has been taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy, while his vehicle has been impounded for further examination.
Reports from Adum TV indicate that Singh, a resident of Ahenema Kokoben, was declared missing days before his body was found. Bloodstains at the scene have raised suspicions of foul play, prompting a comprehensive investigation by authorities.
A resident recounted to the media that the car was initially assumed to have broken down when it was seen parked at the location. In response to the incident, the Inspector General of Police has deployed a special team comprising intelligence officers and homicide investigators to support the Ashanti Regional Police Command in their efforts to resolve the case.
