Sebrepor: The Sebrepor Bethany Methodist Church in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality has inaugurated its Boys Brigade Band in a vibrant concert held at the Church's auditorium.
According to Ghana News Agency, the 'Inaugural Band Concert 1.0' was organized by the Boys Brigade Ghana, Tema-Volta Regional Council, Bethlehem and Afienya District, under the theme: 'Ad Gloriam Dei Resonamus', which translates to 'To the Glory of God We Resonate'. The event aimed to honor God and introduce the youth to the music ministry.
Mr. Emmanuel Ofotsu, the Bandmaster, stated that the initiative was designed to recruit the youth to embrace the challenge of the music ministry. He emphasized that such activities help uncover potential and talents among the youth that might otherwise remain hidden.
He explained that many young participants had the opportunity to handle an instrument for the first time, experiencing a transformation through guidance, discipline, teamwork, and creativity. This exposure, he noted, prepares the brain and develops musical abilities, benefiting both the Church and the nation.
Mr. Ofotsu remarked that learning rhythm, sight reading, and coordination enhances mental focus and builds confidence, impacting academics and leadership positively. He noted that this was the inaugural event, with plans for subsequent editions to keep the brigade active.
He encouraged parents and Church leaders to motivate more boys to join, highlighting that the band offers a platform for mentorship and spiritual development.
The concert showcased brass and woodwind performances from newly trained brigade members, featuring a standout flute performance by one of the youngest recruits. The audience, comprising congregants and Boys Brigade officers, applauded as the youth demonstrated skills acquired through weeks of intensive practice.
Church officials at the event praised the Boys Brigade leadership for their efforts, describing the initiative as a strategic approach to maintain youth engagement in church activities while building skills beneficial to national progress.
Twenty-four boys were inaugurated into the Sebrepor Bethany Methodist Church's Boys' Brigade.
