Kwaso: Help Start Education Foundation has donated computers, learning materials, and a financial package of $35,000 to support the development of Kwaso Presbyterian Junior High School in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region. The Foundation also inaugurated a fully equipped Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre by the Foundation.
According to Ghana News Agency, the project, which forms part of the foundation's broader commitment to promoting quality education in underserved communities, also saw the donation. The newly established ICT facility is fitted with modern amenities such as ceiling fans and air conditioning, creating a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning. The centre is expected to transform the delivery of ICT education in the school and equip students with practical digital skills essential for the 21st century.
Mr Stephen Appiani Junior, Vice President for International Operations at the Foundation, speaking to journalists after handing over the facility, underscored the organisation's dedication to bridging the digital gap in rural and urban communities. He explained that the motivation behind the project was to enhance ICT education in the area and empower students with the necessary technological competencies to thrive in an increasingly digital world. Mr Appiani appealed to residents of Kwaso and other stakeholders to support efforts aimed at improving education within the community.
Reverend Yaw Owusu, Headmaster of the school, thanked the Foundation for what he described as a timely and transformative intervention. According to him, the school previously lacked the required facilities for practical ICT lessons, forcing both teachers and students to rely solely on theoretical instruction using the chalkboard. He noted that the introduction of the ICT centre would significantly improve teaching and learning outcomes and better prepare students for further education and future careers in technology-related fields.
Nana Osei Fosu Adutwum, chief of the community, commended the Foundation for its generosity and commitment to the development of education in the area. He described the initiative as a worthy investment in the future of the youth and urged school authorities, students, and community members to ensure the proper maintenance and effective utilisation of the facility to sustain its long-term benefits.
