Bono region: Pastor Francis Kodom, a Pastor of the Deeper Life Bible Church, has expressed concern about the growing negative influences of new media, which he believes are luring innocent and unsuspecting young people into harmful behaviors that detrimentally affect society.
According to Ghana News Agency, Pastor Kodom emphasized the need for the nation to be proactive in combating the surge of pornographic sites, profane songs, indecent dressing, and nudity prevalent in the digital space. He highlighted that many young individuals follow these social media and blogging sites blindly, putting their lives at risk.
Pastor Kodom, who serves as the Penkwasi Location Pastor and is also the Deputy Bono Regional Director of the Center for National Culture (CNC), called for government initiatives to regulate social media influencers and prevent them from negatively impacting young minds. He also stressed the importance of families monitoring and guiding their children's social media use to ensure it contributes positively to their spiritual growth and development.
Delivering a sermon themed 'Forsaking All and Following Christ' at the youth division of the 2026 Global Retreat of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor Kodom addressed thousands of congregants, including youth, children, and adults from various divisions and districts attending the five-day Easter Retreat. The event, themed 'The Glory of Christ Resurrection,' provides an opportunity for attendees to listen to live sermons from Pastor Dr. William F. Kumuyi, Founder and General Superintendent of DCLM, via satellite from the church headquarters in Nigeria.
Pastor Kodom noted that adolescence is characterized by a desire to explore and understand more, warning that society cannot remain indifferent while young people consume unedifying content that harms the broader community. He urged the youth to follow Jesus Christ as the true way and to unfollow social media platforms that endanger their spiritual lives.
Additionally, Pastor Charles Ollu, the Camp Commandant at the Youth Division of the Retreat, encouraged the youth to lead exemplary lives, placing their spiritual growth and academic progress above all else.
