Tamale: The Tamale Community Cooperative Credit Union has donated 500 mathematical sets to the Northern Business Senior High School (NOBISCO) in Tamale, providing crucial support to students affected by a recent fire that ravaged parts of the school's girls' dormitory.
According to Ghana News Agency, the fire occurred on January 28 following an explosion in the electrical poles, severely impacting the top floor of the girls' dormitory. Approximately 900 students were affected, losing books, mattresses, learning materials, and personal belongings, including tablets issued to them. The donation aims to assist students in their examination preparations, starting from April 07, and enhance the school's educational resources.
Mr. Emmanuel Akaare, Manager of Tamale Community Cooperative Credit Union, presented the mathematical sets to the school's authorities, expressing sympathy and support for the students. He emphasized the practical and symbolic importance of the sets, as each component plays a distinct role in learning and collectively aids student success. Mr. Akaare also praised the school's leadership and teachers for their dedication to student development.
Mr. Yakubu Musah, Assistant Headmaster in-charge of Administration at NOBISCO, conveyed gratitude to the credit union on behalf of the school's Board and Management. He noted that this was the first support from a financial institution since the fire and highlighted the significance of the mathematical sets as educational aids during examination preparations.
Rehabilitation of the affected building is nearing completion, and additional accommodations have been arranged for the students. Mr. Musah appealed to other institutions and philanthropic organizations for further assistance to support the students in need.
