Agona swedru: The Agona Swedru Municipal Office of the Zoomlion Company Limited has initiated a comprehensive program aimed at educating students and pupils on personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness. This initiative seeks to instill the importance of maintaining clean surroundings and good personal hygiene among young learners. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Christian Ocran, the Agona West Municipal Manager of Zoomlion Company Limited, emphasized the significance of this program in an interview. He explained that this educational drive is part of a broader strategy to engage both public and private basic schools in the municipality, fostering enthusiasm for hygienic practices among students and pupils. The campaign involves teaching students at Swedru Islamic Basic School about the necessity of handwashing before meals and after using the restroom. Mr. Ocran highlighted the dangers of littering and improper waste disposal, which can lead to environmental pollution and increase the risk of chole ra and other communicable diseases. He encouraged students to relay these hygiene practices to their families and communities, further promoting environmental cleanliness. Zoomlion Company is collaborating with the District Directorate of Education in Agona West and various school management bodies to ensure the sustainability of this initiative. The program also aligns with the sanitation goals of the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs), aiming to maintain a clean and healthy district. Mr. Ocran, who also oversees Agona East and Gomoa Central Districts, announced plans to extend the program to other schools in these areas, promoting healthy living across the region. Meanwhile, Mr. Abubakar Alhasan Adams, Headteacher of Swedru Islamic Basic School, expressed gratitude for the initiative, optimistic that students will apply the lessons learned. In support of the campaign, Mr. Ocran donated veronica buckets to the school, reinforcing the handwashing and personal hygiene educational campa ign to help reduce the spread of communicable diseases.
