Accra: The Accra Newtown Experimental School building has collapsed, trapping dozens of individuals under the rubble. The building, which has stood for 14 years, succumbed to heavy rainfall on Sunday, March 29, 2026, leading to the catastrophic incident.

According to Ghana Web, some church members may have been trapped under the debris, as seen in a video shared by The1957News on social media. Security agencies, including the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), have swiftly responded to the scene to conduct rescue operations.

The ongoing rescue efforts have already led to the successful extraction of some individuals, believed to be church members, from the site. Emergency teams are working diligently to ensure that any remaining victims are brought to safety as quickly as possible.
