Afadjato south: Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, has launched a series of 30 development projects in Afadjato South District, accompanied by Mr Frank Afriyie, the Member of Parliament for Afadjato South, Mr Manfred Tawiah, the District Chief Executive, as well as local traditional leaders and residents.
According to Ghana News Agency, these initiatives focus on crucial sectors such as education, health, roads, water, and telecommunications to enhance living conditions and broaden access to essential services in the district. In education, the government is constructing multiple three-unit Junior High School classroom blocks, each equipped with a staff common room and a head teacher's office, at various locations including Kpeve Old Town DA School, Goviefe Agordome, Woadze Tsatoe D/A Basic School, and Lomnava Nyive/Hove AME Zion Primary School. These projects aim to expand access to quality education and reduce classroom congestion.
Furthermore, a two-unit Kindergarten block at Logba Horglikope DA Primary School is underway, featuring an office, store, servery, washrooms, and a courtyard to ensure a safe learning environment for young students. In the health sector, a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound with nurses' quarters is being constructed at Agate, aiming to deliver essential healthcare services, especially maternal care, within closer proximity to residents.
The district will also see the development of key road projects, including the Kpeve-Goviefe Todzi Road, Nyangbo Konda Road, Logba Alakpeti-Klikpo Road, and Logba Vuinta-Leklebi Dafor Road. These roads are expected to enhance connectivity, facilitate the movement of goods and people, and support the growth of education, healthcare, tourism, and other economic activities.
Mr Gunu highlighted efforts made by the Member of Parliament and the District Chief Executive to address the longstanding water crisis in Ve-Golokuati, alongside ongoing work to improve telecommunications network coverage. Additionally, 30 mechanized boreholes are being drilled and installed throughout the district to provide safe drinking water, reduce water-borne diseases, and alleviate the burden on residents, particularly women and children.
Mr Gunu stated that these projects are part of the government's larger strategy to improve social infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for residents in Afadjato South, reflecting the government's commitment to expanding access to essential services and fostering development across district communities.
