Accra: The fifth edition of the GhanaWeb Excellence Awards was held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra on Friday, March 6, 2026. The event, organised by Ghana's leading news portal, GhanaWeb, was initiated in 2021 to acknowledge and celebrate individuals who serve as catalysts for progress and positive change while excelling in various fields.
According to Ghana Web, the ceremony attracted high-profile guests from the private sector, civil society, and the diplomatic community, highlighting the significance of recognising excellence and leadership in national development. The awards aimed to spotlight trailblazers whose contributions are shaping Ghana's economic and social progress, while also inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs, professionals, and changemakers.
Throughout the evening, several winners from over 20 categories were presented with awards to honour their achievements in areas such as women empowerment, business leadership, innovation, technology, and social impact. Prof Elsie Effah Kaufmann was among the honorees, receiving the GhanaWeb Excellence in STEM award.
