Sunyani: Awua-Domase Traditional Area in the Bono Region has officially welcomed a new paramount chief following a nine-year vacancy of the stool. Mr. Kofi Martin, a businessman residing in the United States, has been enstooled as Okogyeaman Kwabena Kyere II.
According to Ghana News Agency, the enstoolment ceremony took place in Odomase within the Sunyani West Municipality, where Nana Kwabena Ofori, the Abakomahene of the Awua-Domase Traditional Council, performed the necessary traditional rites. The position had been vacant since the death of Nana Kwame Korang VI in 2017, leaving a gap in leadership until now.
The ceremony was marked by traditional drumming and cultural displays, as the community came together to celebrate the new leadership. In line with tradition, Okogyeaman Kyere II was carried shoulder-high and paraded through the streets, symbolizing his acceptance by the people.
In a media interview, Okogyeaman Kyere II, part of the KwatireFiem family, emphasized his commitment to development and acknowledged the trust placed in him by the community. He expressed his intention to lead with humility and diligence, urging unity and cooperation to achieve comprehensive development.
Miss Millicent Amankwaa Yeboah, the Member of Parliament for Sunyani West and daughter of the new paramount chief, also conveyed gratitude to the community for their support. She noted that her father's peaceful enstoolment highlighted the people's desire for progress and pledged her efforts to further the area's development.
Ms. Yeboah emphasized her commitment to engaging with local chiefs and queens in development initiatives, recognizing the invaluable role of traditional authorities in advancing the region's growth.
