Lambussie: Ten teachers in the Lambussie District have received the MP's Best Teacher Award Scheme for their outstanding performance in enhancing quality education, recognizing their hard work and dedication to imparting knowledge to children. The initiative was instituted by Professor Titus Kofi Beyuo, the Member of Parliament for the Lambussie constituency, to appreciate and motivate hardworking teachers for demonstrating resilience and professionalism to improve academic performance in the district.
According to Ghana News Agency, the awardees included Mr. Kwao Hilleh Nicholas from Lambussie D/A Junior High School, Kanyiri Salia Joseph from Piina Senior High School, Alidu Bodong Solomon from Karni-Dampuo D/A Primary, and Kazie Amuna from Piina Senior High School. The rest were Mr. John Owusu from Lambussie Community Day Senior High School, Abubakari Abdul Moomin from Holy Family Senior High School, Doozie Andrew from Gbingaala D/A Junior High School, Jonah Kpeng Beare Mampong from Piina R/C Junior High School, Baagbog Damascus Kuube-orob from Piina D/A Primary School, and Mr. Kulan James from Kulkagrni D/A Primary School.
Mr. Kwao Hilleh Nicholas was adjudged the overall Best Teacher in the district, receiving an Apsonic motorbike and a citation. Mr. Kanyiri Salia Joseph, who came second, was presented with a double door Nasco Refrigerator, a Samsung tablet, and a citation. The third position was won by Alidu Bodong Solomon, who received a Nasco LED 43-inch Flat Screen TV and a citation. Each of the awardees from fourth to tenth position received a citation and undisclosed cash prizes.
Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Beyuo emphasized that the scheme aims to motivate teachers and improve academic performance in the district, stating that the awards will continue annually, with deserving teachers selected and rewarded based on merit. He highlighted the deprivation in the area and expressed that the awards scheme serves as a morale booster for teachers, stressing that they deserve better recognition for their dedication.
Professor Beyuo, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, assured that the selection of awardees was conducted transparently, devoid of political affiliations, emphasizing that the education directorate was responsible for selecting the hardworking teachers. He pledged to sustain the award scheme annually to reward deserving teachers.
Mr. Naawulle Ireneous Basingbie, the Lambussie District Chief Executive, commended the MP for the timely initiative, pledging the assembly's commitment to providing resources for teachers to improve education standards. He also appealed to the Ministry of Education for more trained teachers in the area.
Mr. Bede Baminekang, the Lambussie District Director of Education, urged awardees to view the recognition as motivation and appreciation for their dedication. He lauded the teachers for their immense contributions despite challenges in the district and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence.
The Paramount Chief of the Lambussie Traditional Council, Kuoro Issaka Zengeh Kazie Tenjie II, hailed the initiative as the first of its kind in the district and expressed hope that it would inspire other teachers to aim for excellence. The overall best teacher expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged continued dedication to advancing education in Lambussie.
