Accra: Harry Yaw Oppong, widely recognized on social media as Truthmark Tik, has candidly shared the reasons behind the abrupt end of his marriage, just one month after a grand wedding ceremony. As a telecommunications engineer and former UN consultant, he discussed the collapse of his union in an interview on De God Son TV on YouTube.
According to Ghana Web, Harry explained that despite dating his ex-wife for one and a half years before marrying, their relationship was significantly affected by family interference. He revealed that his ex-wife's father attempted to exert control over him, primarily due to his financial status.
Harry noted, "The marriage was good and my ex-wife was not a bad woman. But I think she lacked experience and allowed her father to influence her." He elaborated on how the father-in-law's expectations, such as wanting Harry to reside in the family home and manage a hotel in a different location, contributed to the marriage's quick dissolution.
Despite having financed the wedding himself, Harry mentioned that his ex-wife had provided some assistance. He observed that the family's financial status was used as a means to control him, which was a significant factor in the breakdown.
Harry concluded by advising young individuals to thoroughly prepare before entering into marriage and emphasized the importance of being ready to assume full responsibility for the relationship.
