Accra: The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has, for the first time, opened up about a road crash, which left him severely injured. Addressing the leadership of the Ghana Police Service who visited him on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, Nii Tsuru II narrated how a policeman came to his rescue after the crash.
According to Ghana Web, the king detailed that the policeman, Kennedy Frimpong, was the one who managed to remove him from the damaged vehicle. After Officer Kennedy Frimpong administered first aid, he called for reinforcement and also made arrangements to move the king to a nearby health facility.
Nii Tsuru II expressed his desire to be taken to a hospital in Accra, even though the policemen were initially hesitant. However, they obliged his request and drove him in a long convoy for over five hours to the health facility in Accra, where a team was waiting to provide the necessary care.
The Ga Mantse recounted his decision to instruct the police to drive him to Atimpoku, where a rescue team awaited. He commended the police for their efforts in ensuring his safe arrival, despite the long journey from the accident scene.
Upon reaching Accra, the king received a call from President John Dramani Mahama, who, together with his wife, Lordina Mahama, facilitated his transfer to the University of Ghana Medical Centre for further treatment.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II extended his gratitude to the police for their dedicated service and urged the Inspector General of Police to reward Officer Frimpong for his timely assistance.
In his remarks, the Ga Mantse also provided a detailed account of the events on the day of the accident, commending Mr. Kennedy of the Ghana Police Service for being the first to offer him water upon arrival at the scene. He praised the entire Police Service for their commendable efforts.
