Accra: The Ministry of Transport has officially announced the reversion of Kotoka International Airport to its original name, Accra International Airport.
According to Ghana Web, the decision aims to restore the airport to its former name, as initially established.
In a press statement, it was noted that the facility was originally known as Accra International Airport prior to its redesignation. The government has determined that it is appropriate to return the airport to its former and internationally recognized name. The ministry emphasized that this change will not impact airport operations, safety standards, or international travel arrangements. It was highlighted that the airport code within the records of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has consistently remained 'ACC.'
The transport ministry also stated that the transition will involve updating official documents, airport signage, digital platforms, aviation publications, and other communication materials. It expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their cooperation and pledged ongoing collaboration to enhance Ghana's aviation sector. The cooperation and understanding of everyone involved are considered crucial as the process is carried out.
