Accra: KAC Studios, a United Kingdom-based creative production studio, has called for stronger collaboration among creatives to address gaps in Christian-themed film production in Africa and position such content to appeal to wider audiences beyond church communities. Mr Daniel James Ofori-Atta, Studio Lead, Director and Cinematographer of KAC Studios, said many Christian-labelled films on the continent were narrowly targeted at believers, thereby limiting their reach and impact. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Ofori-Atta emphasized the importance of creating films that could be appreciated by anyone, regardless of their faith. 'The gap we have seen is that most Christian films are made only for Christians. We want to create films that anyone can watch, whether you are a believer or not, and still take something meaningful from it,' he said. Mr Ofori-Atta was speaking in Accra on Saturday night during A Night With BKS, an exclusive screening and networking event at Silverbird Cinemas, Accra Mall. The pro gramme, which brought together creatives, investors, and other industry stakeholders, featured panel discussions, networking sessions, and exclusive screenings of three short films from the studio's catalogue - The Cleaner, Mirage, and The Right to Do Anything. Mr Ofori-Atta said KAC Studios sought to tell culturally relevant stories that addressed universal human experiences such as love, mental health, family relationships, and career struggles, rather than overtly religious themes. He articulated the studio's mission to disrupt the global creative industry with high-quality productions that glorify God but still speak to everyday life. He identified collective effort and shared vision as critical to improving Christian-related content in Africa, noting that when people with similar goals come together to support each other and prioritize quality, the impact can be far-reaching. KAC Studios, also known as By KAC Studios (BKS), is the creative production arm of Kingdom Ambassadors Centre. In just two years of operation, its 32-member team has produced three short films, a documentary, two music videos, several music visualisers, and large-scale marketing campaigns. Its debut short film, The Cleaner, has attracted close to one million views on YouTube, won multiple international awards, secured over six film festival selections, and was featured in a panel discussion at Harvard School of Divinity in the United States. Madam Abiola Kareem, Brand Lead and Lead Producer at KAC Studios, said the three films screened in Accra explored different themes, including family reconciliation, love, mental health, isolation, and loneliness. She noted that while some productions were completed in a single day, others took over a year to develop, underscoring the importance of clarity of message and intentional storytelling. The Accra event followed successful premieres in London and Dsseldorf, marking the studio's third international screening and a strategic step towards expanding partnerships, funding, and distribution acr oss cinema and streaming platforms. Patrons described the screenings as impactful and thought-provoking, commending the studio for its production quality and relatable storytelling, and expressed optimism about the future of Christian-inspired creative content in Africa.
