Frankfurt: Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed that the club has begun discussions with striker Harry Kane about extending his current contract. The 32-year-old England captain originally joined Bayern in August 2023 on a four-year deal from Tottenham, in a transfer valued at an initial 100 million euros (£86.4 million).
According to Ghana Web, Kane has made a significant impact at Bayern Munich, scoring 119 goals and providing 30 assists in 126 appearances. He played a crucial role in helping the team secure the 2024-25 Bundesliga title, marking the first major trophy of his career. At a recent Bundesliga event in Frankfurt, Eberl stated, "We're talking to Harry, we're talking. Everyone knows at some point a decision has to be made."
Kane himself has expressed a willingness to extend his stay at Bayern, noting in October that he could "definitely" see himself remaining with the club. He also mentioned that his desire to return to the Premier League had "gone down a little bit." This season, Kane has scored 34 goals in 30 matches under manager Vincent Kompany, including 21 goals in 19 Bundesliga games, as he aims to surpass Robert Lewandowski's record of 41 goals in a single Bundesliga season. Kane has also contributed to Bayern's strong performance in the Champions League, where they currently hold second place in their group with one game remaining.
Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen commented, "Harry has great confidence in us, and he feels comfortable in Munich. He and his family are settled in. Therefore, we've got absolutely no reason to rush."
