Accra: A defamatory suit by Gifty Oppong Adorye, popularly known as Empress Gifty, a gospel musician, against Patricia Asiedua, aka Agradaa, a self-acclaimed evangelist, has been settled amicably. This resolution came after Agradaa paid GHC100,000 to Empress Gifty and issued a formal apology.
According to Ghana News Agency, a statement from Agradaa's lawyer, Richard Asare Baffour, indicated that the settlement was adopted as a consent judgment by both the Tema Land Court and the Tema Main Court, officially concluding the two related lawsuits. The mutually agreed settlement was finalized and adopted as a consent judgment on January 20, 2026.
The lawsuits, initially filed on May 20, 2025, and June 26, 2025, arose from a publication by Agradaa that was deemed damaging to Empress Gifty's reputation. In her initial claims, Empress Gifty sought court orders for GHC40 million in alleged slander and libel damages. She also requested a perpetual injunction to prevent Agradaa from making further defamatory statements, the removal of all related content from social media, and coverage of legal costs and professional fees.
The statement further mentioned that after constructive dialogue, the parties had privately settled the matter. Agradaa made payments to Empress Gifty, covering legal fees and expenses related to the case. With the entry of the consent judgment, Empress Gifty agreed to irrevocably relinquish all claims.
