Teen Driver Involved in Fatal East Legon Crash Sparks Outrage

ACCRA: Entertainment pundit Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has voiced strong opinions regarding a tragic motor accident in East Legon that resulted in the deaths of two children. The incident involved a 16-year-old driver, Elrad Salifu Amoako, who lost control of a Jaguar SUV and collided with a 4×4 Acura vehicle, leading to a fatal fire.

According to Ghana Web, the collision occurred when the Jaguar SUV, driven by the son of Bishop Salifu Amoako, crashed into the Acura, causing both vehicles to ignite. The crash claimed the lives of two young girls, Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, who were in the Acura and were burned beyond recognition.

Speaking on the October 19, 2024, edition of United Showbiz, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo expressed his belief that the incident was not an accident but was instead an act of murder or manslaughter. Baidoo drew parallels to the helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant, emphasizing the profound impact such tragedies have on the families involved. He noted, “There’s a high possibility that
the parents of these children will not be the same again.”

The aftermath of the accident saw Bishop Salifu Amoako and his wife, Mouha Amoako, arrested on October 15, later being granted bail set at S50,000 each. A video featuring Salifu Amoako’s apology to the victims’ families circulated on social media, receiving mixed reactions from the public. On October 18, a vigil was held at the site of the accident to honor the memory of the two deceased girls.
