Serwaa Amihere’s Arrest Hoax Clarified as Music Video Footage

ACCRA: Gospel musician Piesie Esther and media personality Serwaa Amihere have addressed the confusion stemming from a viral video that falsely suggested Serwaa’s arrest. The video, initially shared by Blogger Nkonkonsa, showed Serwaa in handcuffs, sparking widespread speculation until the Ghana Police Service confirmed it was part of a music video shoot.

According to Ghana Web, the video was first circulated on October 14, 2024, when Blogger Nkonkonsa posted a screenshot of the footage with a misleading caption stating Serwaa Amihere had been arrested. The post quickly gained traction on social media, leading to widespread confusion and concern among fans and followers.

In a recent interview on GhOne TV, Piesie Esther and Serwaa Amihere discussed the rapid spread of the misinformation and their reactions to the unfolding events. Piesie Esther recounted her initial surprise upon learning about the alleged arrest while she was at a radio station. She described the moment she realized something was amiss: “By
the time I came out of the studio, there were a lot of calls and messages. Then I started flipping out, ‘What is going on here?'”

Concerned about her friend’s well-being, Piesie Esther immediately reached out to Serwaa Amihere, who reassured her that the situation was not as it seemed. Serwaa calmly told her, “Oh, sis, don’t worry. It’s nothing. Don’t worry. You calm down.”

When questioned about whether the rumors affected her, Serwaa Amihere confidently stated that she was unbothered because the allegations were false. “Because I was not,” she emphasized during the interview. When further asked about her feelings regarding the Ghana Police Service’s statement clarifying the situation, Serwaa humorously remarked, “I didn’t know I was that important,” followed by laughter.

Piesie Esther also expressed her lack of concern about the misinformation, noting that both she and Serwaa were aware of the true context of the video. “We knew what was in the post. We knew that it was just a video. So I wasn’t bothered
about it,” she explained.
