ACCRA: Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur, Fella Makafui, recently disclosed the reasons behind the collapse of several of her business ventures, attributing it largely to a lack of consistency. Speaking at the “After School, What’s Next?” summit organized by the Ghana Tertiary Awards, Makafui provided candid insights into her entrepreneurial journey, emphasizing the importance of focus and long-term commitment.
According to Ghana Web, Makafui, best known for her role in the television series “YOLO,” admitted that her tendency to frequently switch from one business idea to another hindered the success of her ventures. She reflected on her past practices, noting that she often abandoned promising projects prematurely, only to see others succeed with similar ideas. “I would be doing this, this next minute, the moment I hear that this other business is good, I jump into it,” she recounted, highlighting a pattern of inconsistency that proved detrimental.
Makafui specifically mentioned her venture, Fella Wine and
Liquor, as an example of a business that suffered due to a lack of personal alignment and commitment. Initially hoping that her friends’ enjoyment of drinking would translate into support for her business, she found that her own introverted nature made it difficult to promote the venture effectively. “When I opened the wine shop, after some years, I realised that I don’t go out. I wasn’t the outgoing type I couldn’t go to clubs to introduce people to the wine business,” she explained, detailing how this mismatch impacted the business’s profitability.
Through these experiences, Makafui has learned valuable lessons about dedication and consistency in entrepreneurship. She emphasized that a business is likely to struggle if its owner is not fully committed, and she now approaches her ventures with a more strategic and focused mindset.
