ACCRA: Archbishop Kofi Adonten Boateng has once again refuted allegations of an extramarital affair with renowned gospel musician Obaapa Christy, stating emphatically that their relationship has always been purely platonic. The US-based pastor, currently in Ghana, addressed the accusations in an interview, underscoring the emotional toll the controversy has taken on him.
According to Ghana Web, the allegations emerged from Pastor Love, the estranged husband of Obaapa Christy. Pastor Love accused his former wife of infidelity, claiming she was involved with several religious leaders, including Archbishop Boateng. In response, the Archbishop expressed his dismay over the accusations and reiterated his innocence, emphasizing that he has never been romantically involved with Christy.
In his recent interview with Kingdom FM’s Fiifi Pratt, Archbishop Boateng clarified the nature of his connection with Obaapa Christy. He explained that her music had been a source of comfort during a challenging period in his life,
insisting that their interaction was strictly professional and respectful. “There was a difficult time in my life, and it was Obaapa Christy’s songs that I cried with,” he stated, affirming his commitment to his own marriage.
Archbishop Boateng also recounted the circumstances of their first meeting, noting that it occurred through a music producer who introduced him to various gospel musicians for an event. He stressed his respectful treatment of Christy, akin to his approach to all individuals, and reiterated his respect for Pastor Love despite the allegations.
In a gesture of reconciliation, Pastor Love issued apologies to both Archbishop Adonten Boateng and another pastor, Osofo Kyiri Abosom, whom he had also accused. Pastor Love acknowledged that his comments were made in anger and expressed his fallibility as a human being.
