Archbishop Urges Empathy for Shatta Wale Amid Controversial Behavior

ACCRA: Ghanaian-American Archbishop Kofi Adonten Boateng has urged Ghanaians to show empathy rather than condemnation towards Shatta Wale, the popular dancehall musician known for his controversial online behavior. The Archbishop attributes the musician’s actions to unresolved emotional issues stemming from childhood neglect.

According to Ghana Web, in an interview with Kingdom FM on October 17, 2024, Archbishop Boateng explained that Shatta Wale’s behavior is a manifestation of deep-seated emotional wounds, particularly linked to neglect from his mother during his formative years. The Archbishop pointed out that these early experiences have left a lasting impact on Shatta Wale, influencing his need for attention and tendency to engage in confrontational behavior.

“Children remember these things when they happen to them, grow with them, and become very loud. So, when I hear him speaking loudly and insulting people, it’s because he’s seeking the attention that he never got as a child,” Archbishop Boateng sta
ted in the interview. He emphasized that Shatta Wale’s behavior should not be seen as malicious or irrational but as a cry for help from someone who is emotionally wounded.

The Archbishop further highlighted the importance of offering support and understanding to Shatta Wale, rather than ostracizing him for his actions. He noted that the artist’s readiness to confront others and his apparent lack of inner peace are indicative of his ongoing emotional struggles. ‘So you see that he is always ready to fight. It’s like he isn’t at peace with himself. So I plead with Ghanaians, let’s stop condemning and ostracising him, he is the way he is because of what he has been through. Let’s support him, he is blessed,’ Archbishop Boateng added.
