Keta: A total of 671 New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates in the Keta constituency of the Volta Region are expected to participate in the upcoming presidential primaries on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
According to Ghana News Agency, the delegates will choose among five presidential aspirants: Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong. Mr. Bernard Sukah, the Deputy Keta NPP Constituency Secretary, stated that the election is scheduled to take place between 0800 to 1500 hours.
Mr. Sukah mentioned that the delegates include former parliamentary candidates, constituency executives, council of elders, patrons, and electoral area coordinators, among others. The elections will be held at the Vodza-Adzido Roman Catholic (VR) basic school in the constituency, with an emphasis on following voting procedures for smooth primaries.
He added that security arrangements have been made to ensure a peaceful election and appealed to supporters for clean campaigns. Measures for transparency include the deployment of security personnel and the signing of a Peace Pact by the aspirants.
The Keta Constituency election is part of the nationwide NPP presidential primaries, which are crucial in determining the party's candidate for the 2028 general elections. The outcome is expected to influence the NPP's future direction and readiness for the upcoming general elections.
