‘Such people don’t last long’ – Pete Edochie speaks on grandson’s death

Seasoned Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has expressed sorrow over the passing of his grandson, Kambilichukwu Edochie.

Kambilichukwu lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital for treatment, but all attempts by the doctors to revive him proved unsuccessful.

According to reports, the boy had a seizure while playing football with classmates at school and was taken urgently to the Mother and Child Hospital but unfortunately, he didn’t make it.

According to Pete, who spoke with Vanguard, his son Yul called him on Wednesday, March 29, to let him know that Kambilichukwu had a seizure after falling down while playing football with his classmates.

Pete Edochie noted that as soon as Yul notified his family about the tragic event, they immediately began praying for the boy.

The veteran actor stated that it was tragic that his grandson passed away at a time when he had shown so much promise, calling him a bright and gifted young man.

Pete continued, saying he had previously voiced concern about his grandson’s exceptional qualities and noted that such people do not always persist.

He said: “Kambilinachukwu is a very quiet, brilliant, and talented child. He’s not somebody you can ride easily. He doesn’t get angry no matter the situation.

“He may change his composure, but he was definitely a very unusual person in so many respects. He was so accomplished.

“I always tell my son that I don’t like people excelling like this in anything they are involved in. Experience has taught me that such people don’t last long.”

Ifeanyi would have wanted me to perform at the Qatar World Cup – Davido reveals

Celebrated Nigerian singer opines that his late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke would have loved to see him perform at the World Cup in Qatar.

The singer made the statement during a promotional tour of his recently released album ‘Timeless’.

Speaking for the first time about his long hiatus from public life following the death of Ifeanyi, he also spoke about why he accepted the opportunity to perform in Qatar.

Ifeanyi Adeleke died late last year when he drowned in a family house pool.

Davido and Chioma who are now married were at a family function when the unfortunate incident occurred.

He said on Beats99.9fm: “This is like a year ago, we did the FIFA draw and performed the official theme song. I think they had about five or six official songs but ours was the first. The vibe was cool but I didn’t look at it like they were going to call me to do the World Cup.”

“Later on, they began talking with my management. I didn’t know it was the main ceremony until one week before the tournament in Qatar. We had to go a week before, and rehearse and that was a month after my son passed. I was just like should I do it or should I not do it but again I felt like this is an opportunity that I believe can never come again.

“I felt like my son will also had wanted me to do it. So I said I will do this one and disappear again.”

I have only one regret in life – Osebo the Zaraman

Richard Brown popularly known as ‘Osebo the Zaraman’ has revealed that his biggest regret in life is piercing his ears.

According to Osebo, he pierced without thinking about the repercussions at a time he was carried away by the societal lifestyle (Akata), but he afterward regretted his decision.

The highly-rated fashionista continued by saying that a taxi driver had encouraged him to take the earrings out because of the negative stereotypes that exist about men who wear earrings, which advice he heeded to.

Speaking in an interview with Onua FM on March 30, 2023, Osebo added he wished that it was possible to seal the pierced area.

“I regret one particular decision in my life, what I did that I have regretted is piercing my ear, because I was a DJ at the time and I was carried away by the societal lifestyle (akata) so I had to pierce because of the club.

“So, around 1999, I used to stay at Kingsby and I had no car but there was a particular taxi that used to pick me up for my personal rounds.

“…so, one day the taxi driver advised me that, Ghanaians have different kinds of perceptions of people who pierce, so, if possible, I should remove it because I have a great destiny,” he said.

Osebo added, “if it is possible for me to seal it, I will do it but is not possible.”

John Mahama announces award scheme to push up NDC votes

Aspiring Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NOC), John Dramani Mahama, has announced an award scheme that will reward branches and constituencies of the party that work hard to increase the party’s parliamentary and presidential votes in 2024.

Mr. Mahama who has been insisting during his tour of various constituencies that his 2024 campaign will be anchored by the branches, says the award scheme is intended to both set targets for the constituencies and encourage them to meet the targets.

“We are going to Institute a reward system for constituencies and branches. We’ll give every constituency a target and sf you meet the target and exceed it, the branch and constituency will be rewarded”, he announced to wild cheers from the executives.

John Mahama is currently on a three-day tour of the twenty-three constituencies in the central region, campaigning ahead of the NDC’s May 13, 2023, presidential primaries.

According to him, the award scheme and branch level campaign will be supported with the needed campaign materials and logistics. He also cautioned constituency and regional executives against keeping campaign logistics and other resources, denying the branches where the real work of canvassing for votes take place.

President Mahama says, he will decentralise his 2024 campaign, much more than he did in 2020, working together with the branches and constituencies to engage, mobilise and canvass for the votes.

The former president has visited six other regions already, including the Volta, Bono East, Bono, Ahafo, Ashanti and Western regions.
