Ghanaians need leadership of ideas, not violence – Bawumia’s boy jabs Asiedu Nketia

Dr. Gideon Baako, Spokesperson for Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia has reacted to the new leadership of the main opposition party, the NDC.

Dr. Baako claimed that the opposition party has resorted to violence and abusive politics by choosing Asiedu Nketia as its national chairman.

Speaking on Accra-based Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, he describes Asiedu Nketia’s acceptance speech as violent and primitive style of politics.

According to Dr. Baako, Ghanaians are looking for a group of leaders who will share ideas on how the country can be developed and not spit fire.

“If you do that (engage in politics of violence), you are painting a certain picture to Ghanaians but today in Ghana, we don’t need that… The political party leadership is not like going to war against the NPP or NDC,” he said.

He continued, “We have to note that it is more of sharing of ideas because Ghanaians are not looking for a violent political party.

“Ghanaians are searching for a political party that can deliver and resolve their problems… it is also telling on the nature and the character of the NDC as a political party.”

He advised Ghanaians not to entertain the NDC and it’s violent executives because “in our present world, we need leadership of ideas not leadership of violence.”

“We need a leadership who can show, in the midst of difficult situations, they can think outside the box and create an environment that can address the needs of the people and even when people think it is impossible, they can still exude confidence and then let it reflect on the people,” he stressed.

Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, in his acceptance speech at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, December 18, stated that they are ready to march the ruling NPP boot for boot in the 2024 election.

He stressed that the new leaders will sacrifice all they have including their lives to bring back the party to power.

“We are prepared to sacrifice everything; and I mean everything, including our lives, to achieve victory,” he said, adding, “Wherever impunity becomes law, resistance becomes a duty.“

“Looking at the array of executives elected today, I have no doubt the party wants us to carry the battle to the elephant. We cannot let the country, and we cannot let the party down,” General Mosquito added.

Our unity at national congress signposts victory in 2024 polls – Alhaji Said Sinare

H.E Alhaji Said Sinare, the immediate past National Vice Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress in a congratulatory message yesterday stated that the party’s leadership unity of purpose demonstrated at the recently held national congress on last Saturday in Accra was indicative of the party’s victory in the 2024 general elections.

The former National Vice Chairman of the Party, who is also a key campaigner for the former National Chairman, welcomed the newly elected national executives.

“Let me use this rare opportunity to congratulate the newly elected proficient members of our great party’s National Executive Committee and wish them a fruitful tenure as they work to reposition our great party,” he stated.

The outspoken former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia expressed confidence in the new leadership.

“As we wrap up this incredibly successful 2022 National congress of our great party, I’m aware that the NPP and other opposition parties are now pouting and displaying extended expressions of regret, confusion, and dismay.

“They had hoped and prayed that they may profit handsomely from our misfortunes. Additionally, they hoped and prayed that they would be able to use our party’s alleged shortcomings to their electoral advantage,” part of his statement read.

READ HIS FULL STATEMENT BELOW:

THE DECISIONS OF THE DELEGATES ARE PARAMOUNT AND OUR UNITY AT THE JUST ENDED CONGRESS SIGNPOST VICTORY IN THE 2024 POLLS

Let me use this rare opportunity to congratulate the newly elected proficient members of our great party’s National Executive Committee and wish them a fruitful tenure as they work to reposition our great party.

I believe there should be no victor and no vanquished arising from our democratic National congress. Our primary attention should be directed at toppling a government that defrauded the Ghanaian people into electing it by promising our dear youth millions of jobs each year, only to deliver millions of job losses annually; a government that repeatedly denies its commitment to advancing and reshaping the economic fortunes of the Ghanaian people.

I want to stress that the best way to demonstrate that this is a victory for the NDC and all of our members is for the newly elected leaders to be humanitarian enough to carry everyone along, since we cannot achieve our mission and aspirations unless we work together as a family hungry for power.

As we wrap up this incredibly successful 2022 National congress of our great party, I’m aware that the NPP and other opposition parties are now pouting and displaying extended expressions of regret, confusion, and dismay.

They had hoped and prayed that they may profit handsomely from our misfortunes. Additionally, they hoped and prayed that they would be able to use our party’s alleged shortcomings to their electoral advantage.

As politicians, we are accustomed to experiencing successes, setbacks, and disappointments depending on how each election turns out.

My dear comrades, lets accept the results of this 2022 National Conference with grace and act with maturity and good sportsmanship. So that we can collectively steer the ship to rescue the helpless Ghanaians, our party requires all hands on the helm because we are truly the only surviving alternative.

To the rest of us, let us make sacrifices, put our differences aside, and recognize this as a new beginning that will propel our party to greater heights.

It is my sincere hope that our current leaders, stakeholders, and NDC members will work tirelessly to sell H.E. John Dramani Mahama’s profile and vision to the rest of Ghanaians in order to secure a resounding victory in 2024 and rescue the dying Ghanaians.

Mr. Chairman, It was a tough battle, but the fact that you won demonstrates your perseverance.

Congratulations once again to all of us in the NDC.

I questioned why Baba Rahman played ahead of Gideon Mensah against Uruguay – ExCO member Frederick Acheampong

Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], Frederick Acheampong has revealed that he questioned the rationale behind why Baba Rahman was selected ahead of Gideon Mensah in the final group game against Uruguay.

Having started the opening game against Portugal, Baba Rahman, who is on loan at Reading FC in the English Championship was slammed and criticised for his porous defending as the Black Stars suffered a 3-2 defeat against the European side.

However, he was dropped in the second group game against South Korea. Gideon Mensah put up a decent performance as the team recorded a 3-2 win.

However, Rahman surprisingly made a return to the team against Uruguay. Ahead of the game, the Black Stars needed a draw to seal a place in the last 16 but suffered a 2-0.

Football fans were left furious with the technical team’s decision and the performance of the Dreams FC defender.

Mr Acheampong speaking in an interview disclosed that he questioned the rationale behind why Rahman was selected ahead of Mensah.

“I was asked whether I was happy with what I saw and I said I feel that, for instance, in our game against Portugal the coach made some instant substitutions after we equalised which, I think, brought the momentum of the team down and Portugal capitalised on that to beat us,” he told Graphic Sports.

“Even in our last game against Uruguay, I didn’t expect to see Baba Rahman because I saw Gideon Mensah who played in our second game and we won, so Ghanaians were expecting that he would start,” he pointed out.

“So, when I saw Baba Rahman I asked people close to the team and I was told that the coach said he wanted to attack and Baba Rahman was the best left-back when it comes to offensive play,” he added.

Otto Addo improved Black Stars massively, says GFA ExCO member Frederick Acheampong

Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], Frederick Acheampong has lauded Otto Addo for improving the Black Stars despite the 2022 World Cup collapse.

Following Ghana’s disappointing performance at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Cameroon, Milovan Rajevac was shown the exit.

Otto Addo was named as the interim boss for the team ahead of the 2022 World Cup playoff games against Nigeria in March with technical assistance from George Boateng, Didi Dramani and Chris Hughton.

However, Addo masterminded Ghana’s qualification to the Mundial in Qatar at the expense of the Super Eagles.

Despite exiting at the group phase of the tournament, Acheampong has lauded the Borussia Dortmund talent coach for improving the team despite the Black Stars’ early exit.

“If you compare this team to the one at the Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] it is clear that there has been a massive improvement and I think that he’s worked a lot on the team than when we went to the AFCON because at the AFCON we couldn’t even win one game. But at the World Cup, at least, we won a game,” he added.

Ghana finished at the bottom of Group H with three points. The Black Stars picked up one win and two defeats.

With Otto Addo leaving his role as the head coach of the team, the Ghana Football Association [GFA] are yet to name a new substantive coach before the team assembles in March for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers.

Otto Addo would have corrected his mistakes if he stayed as Black Stars coach – Frederick Acheampong

Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], Frederick Acheampong has reiterated that he wished Otto Addo would have stayed as Black Stars coach.

The 47-year-old who masterminded the Black Stars’ qualification to the 2022 World Cup has left his role as the head coach of the team.

Ghana failed to book a place in the last 16 of the tournament after finishing at the bottom of Group H.

The Black Stars recorded just a win and two defeats.

According to the former AshantiGold SC Chief Executive Officer, he would have preferred Otto Addo stays as the head coach of the team despite the disappointing performance in Qatar.

According to him, the Borussia Dortmund talent coach would have learned from his mistakes.

“My wish was that Otto Addo didn’t leave so that he would learn from the mistakes he made in the Portugal, South Korea and the Uruguay games. If you give him these same games to play again I’m sure he wouldn’t repeat those mistakes again,” he told Graphic Sports.

“That is what Senegal did with Aliou Cisse. When they gave the team to him initially he made mistakes but over the years he has gained experience,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association [GFA] are yet to appoint a new head coach for the team before the team assembles again in March for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers.

Ex-Hearts of Oak captain Fatawu Mohammed apologizes over ill comments

Three Kenyan athletes have been banned for a collective period of eight years after breaking anti-doping rules.

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has banned marathon runners Alice Jepkemboi Kimutai and Johnstone Kibet Maiyo for three years, and sprinter Mark Otieno for two.

Otieno, 29, tested positive for the banned anabolic steroid Methasterone moments before the 100m heats at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

It meant he was not allowed to compete.

Otieno, a three-time national 100m champion, will have his ban backdated from the Games and end in July 2023.

The suspension for November’s Porto marathon winner Kimutai – who tested positive for the male hormone testosterone – began on 16 November.

Maiyo’s ban started on 20 July for returning a positive test for erythropoietin (EPO).

Last month the east African country avoided a sanction by governing body World Athletics – despite having 55 athletes serving suspensions – after committing to spend $25m over the next five years to combat doping.

Kenya’s sports minister Ababu Namwamba then announced they intended to criminalise doping in athletics in an attempt to bring an end to a string of cases in the sport.

Mentioning Jesus name during orgasm is a sin – Kumchacha

The founder and leader of the Heaven’s Gate Ministries Prophet Nicholas Osei popularly known as Kumchacha has stated that mentioning the name of Jesus, during the process of having sexual orgasm is a sin and abusing the name of the Most High.

He claims God frown over when people are enjoying sex and His name is being mentioned and that there is everything wrong when His name is mentioned during sex.

In his view, there is no need for people to shout God’s name when receiving their orgasms adding that, name of the man should rather be mentioned.

He based his argument from the Bible scripture, Exodus 20:7 which reads: “Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.’

“You are not serious if you mention Jesus name, Holy Spirit name during the process of getting your orgasm, it simple means you are not a serious person. You don’t mention Jesus name in such duties, the bible says don’t mention His name in vain. Jesus is not the person sleeping with you. We don’t use God’s name in such disrespectful manner. Jesus has nothing to do with having your orgasm” he said on Okay FM’s Best Entertainment Show.

Relationship Counsellor, Revered George Lutterodt on the same show however disagreed with the Man of God.

He advised Prophet Kumchacha to apologise for offending sexually active persons.

Counsellor Lutterodt added that mentioning God’s name, Jesus name, using words such as oooh, aaah, wooo during orgasm stage enhances one’s sexual performance.

“That lie preached by pastors and men of God is harming Gods children which He blessed them with sex. Jesus name is used in everything including sex. There’s no restriction in using God’s name. How can you say that when somebody is enjoying sexual intercourse and mentions Jesus or God, they will go to hell for sinning against God, what is wrong with you?” he fumed.
