Mpraeso Amanfrom:A tragic incident has occurred involving a 14-year-old Junior High School pupil, Keziah Mirekua, who died after reportedly setting herself on fire at a school park in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region.
According to Ghana Web, there are conflicting accounts surrounding the circumstances of her death. Family members have been divided over allegations that her actions may have been linked to pregnancy-related issues. Keziah, a final-year student at Mpraeso Amanfrom Basic School, sustained severe burns and was taken to a hospital for treatment, where she later died.
The deceased's grandmother, Christiana Nkansah, indicated that the family had received information suggesting the incident might be connected to pregnancy allegations involving a young man who allegedly denied responsibility. She noted that Keziah reportedly made some disclosures while receiving treatment at the hospital.
However, Keziah's mother and sister have refuted claims that she was pregnant, asserting that these allegations do not align with their understanding of her condition before the incident. In interviews, they acknowledged her involvement in a relationship with a young man but insisted she was not pregnant. They suspect other factors may have contributed to the tragedy and are calling for a comprehensive investigation to uncover the true circumstances leading to her death.
The family remains in search of answers as the conflicting accounts have raised questions about the events leading up to the young student's death.
