Tokyo 2020: Ghana’s Sulemanu Tetteh advances to Round of 16

Tokyo, Japan, – Sulemanu Tetteh who fought in the Flyweight division won 2-1 against his Dominican Republic opponent Rogrido Marte in the round of 32 at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on Monday morning.

He won two of the three fights to record a split decision of 3-2 on the score cards of the five judges.

Three of the judges recorded in favour of Tetteh whilst two recorded for Marte.

The Black Bombers captain started slowly but gradually warmed himself into the fight, winning the last two rounds after falling behind in three of the five judges’ scorecards in the first round.

Tetteh exhibited great composure and technical ability, with quick movement and targeted punching, to eventually overpower his opponent on Monday morning.
